Engr. Stephen Onuorah is a seasoned power system engineer with over three decades of experience in the electricity distribution sector at all voltage levels. He began his career with the former National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), transitioned through the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), and ultimately served in a management capacity at Nigeria’s largest distribution company. There, at management level, he led units focused on network operation and maintenance, network planning and integration, and network optimization.
Engr. Onuorah has spearheaded numerous projects that resulted in significant network expansions, including the development of injection substations, various feeders, and distribution substations. He also played a key role in the evaluation and integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) projects.
He is a registered Electrical Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a distinguished member of several professional organizations. These include the Nigerian Society of Engineers (Fellow), the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (Fellow), the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, USA (Senior Member), the Institution of Engineering Technology, UK (Member), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Member).
Engr. Onuorah holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing. His passion for electrical engineering is evident in his dedication to training and mentoring young engineers. Additionally, he has served on committees responsible for engineering competence certifications and the development of engineering standards and processes.
